- Strongly encourage with information on contacting editor if data is not available
- Explicit link (button) for data sharing request (to setup direct correspondence with authors) or link (DOI) to data if it exists
- Need request handling system

- Stored in repository (e.g. NIF registry)
- Integration of data repository / sharing sites with journal process
- Statement on requirements for data repository sites
- Verification or access to data during review
- Availability of data DOI for citation in published article

- Have initial DOI’d data available
